It took me 55 minutes to travel 5.4 miles to work today! How the heck is this possible? Easy. When you don’t have a car, live in Chicago and rely on shoty mass tranist, this is entirely possible.
Bus to a bus to walking .2 miles. to an elevator, to an escalotor to another elevator…yes knee can!
Finally to my desk. Good thing I am about 20 ft. from the water cooler/kitchen area/Starbucks machine. Bathroom? Not so close. I have to get through a series of three doors, if you include the bathroom stall, on crutches. This is about 50 ft. and takes, oh, probably 8 minutes to get there. Needless to say, I cut down on my water intake. On the brightside, I do have a desk job that allows me to prop my leg up, ice it, and when no ones looking, I can do a few excercises. Just another way to multi-task on the job.
Desk-friendly excercises:
Ankle Pumps, keeping the leg straight and hyper extending, extensions, leg lifts(a very mild version), squeezing and tightening the hammys and quads.
For the record, still on crutches, but can bear weight on leg, still in my locked knee brace, still a little swollen, still sporting steri-strips over my scar and still in a little pain.
How’s your day going?

Haha! The washrooms are far away from my desk, too. I used to hate being on crutches and having to do the trek all the way over there. I was so noisy — everyone would look up from their desks!
