Lately, my knee has been acting up. The one thing I am focusing on is my extension–trying to straighten my leg and get my hyper extension back. So far, I am at 0, not hyper extension at all.
When I’m working all day, I have gone back to elevating my leg to constantly stretch it. This causes my hamstrings to hurt, just like they did right after surgery from the god-awful positions that had to put my leg on during operation. Sometimes just when I think I am on my way to sports again, I encounter minor set backs like this that make me think otherwise. I know it’s just part of the process, but I’m really jonesing to welcome sports back into my life. (Ski season 2010, please?! I have new skis to break in.) Appreciate what you can do while you can do it.
I quote Mary Schmich from her book, Wear Sunscreen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wear_Sunscreen):
“Be kind to your knees, you’ll miss them when they are gone.”
ACL Extension

That is a great quote. I can certainly identify with that.
I start back to work on Monday and I am quite nervous about how sitting at a desk all day will affect my progress.
I hope to be on a golf course by November and rejoining my tennis team by January. But, I know what you are saying with having some gains and then all seems to come to a screeching halt. The tightness in my knee is driving me crazy. I don’t feel it when I wear the brace. But as soon as I take it off, it feels like there is no give.
From one survivor to another, keep positive. You will be on those skis before long.
