This whole rehab process has inspired me. This blog has inspired me. And all you wonderful readers and commenters without a doubt have inspired me to keep pushing forward–so much so that I have decided to put the pain behind me and debut the my-new-ACL-is better-than-it-ever-was comeback by participating in the 2010 Chicago Triathlon (Supersprint level–let’s not get carried away).
What better way to make myself and everyone else forget my bench-warming months of rehab than by doing three sports in one day? (*Note the word “participating,” meaning I’m not busting over backwards to break records, just wanna shatter any previous painful ACL memories.)
So there you go. I’ll be hitting the chilly waters of Lake Michigan on August 29. More details to come.
That’s my ACL-is-better-than-ever goal. What’s yours?
Feel free to share your comeback stories, especially if you did a 5K up to a Tri. And be sure to comment if you are participating in the Chicago Tri or will be in the area–you can sport a Yes Knee Can t-shirt. (Yes! That’s right–a YKC tee! It’s about time you had something cool to wear to PT. T-shirts with actual blog logo coming soon.)

It’s great to see the progress you have made. I am 4 months into my recovery and it is slow/frustrating. Good luck with the tri.
Congratulations on your great attitute and progress on recovering. I wish all of us could have such strenght and possitivity when dealing with an injury. Please let us know how the progress advance and good luck on the Tri. We are a nutritional family that worries about your faster and effective recovery after injury. Jared, we could help you into your recovery process and avoid that frustration.
Please take some time to know about us!
Keep that great attitute up!

How’d it go?
Awesome! Way to go.
I just returned to “the scene of the crime” – skiing in NZ, where it all happened almost a year ago. Needed to be redeemed. And I got it. I’m almost 10 months post-op now and I just had a fantastic powder day on my new ACL at Treble Cone in Wanaka, NZ on 8/27.
Best of luck with your tri – you will do great!
Cheers,
Jen
I am 6 months post op and running (jogging and hoping to finish actually) a 5k in 2 days. I have been preparing for the past 2 months or so, and my PT has suffered unfortunately, but, I will be able to focus on that again starting next week and get back to Tae Kwon Do (my real passion) full strength in no time.
Thank you for the blog and keeping it up. I’m going into surgery next week and found the daily details in getting out of the hospital, commuting, living by yourself, moving, Pt well everything really helpful in preparing.
We feel delighted to know that you guys are recovering and getting better! Noeli, what kind of surgery are you going into next week? What have you done to get ready for it?
I am going to give you a link about how to prepare for surgery. Please feel free to send us a message if you have any questions!

Good luck on a supersprint level=)
I’m sure you can manage to leave behind your bad memories especially at the lake.
Hi there!
I noticed some incoming links to my “Peter’s ACL Surgery Diary” coming from this site. I have to say, I wish there was an informative, funny (punny), and well laid out blog like this one around when I was going through my recovery.
I just wanted to say thanks for linking back to my ANCIENT site and I know that a lot of people are benefiting from this blog.
Have a nice day.
-Peter
